One day, a father of a very wealthy family took his son on a trip to the country with the firm purpose of showing his son how poor people live. They spent a couple of days and nights on the farm of what would be considered a very poor family. On their return from their trip, the father asked his son, "How was the trip?"
"It was great, Dad."
"Did you see how poor people live?" the father asked.
"Oh yeah," said the son.
"So, tell me, what you have learned from the trip?" asked the father.
The son answered, "I saw that we have one dog and they had four. We have a pool that reaches to the middle of our garden, and they have a creek that has no end. We have imported lanterns in our garden, and they have the stars at night. Our patio reaches to the front yard, and they have the whole horizon. We have a small piece of land to live on, and they have fields that go beyond our sight. We have servants who serve us, but they serve others. We buy our food, but they grow theirs. We have walls around our property to protect us; they have friends to protect them."
The boy's father was speechless.
Then his son added, "Thanks, Dad, for showing me how poor we are."

Two Choices
Jerry is the manager of a restaurant. He is always in a good mood. When someone would ask him how he was doing, he would always reply: "If I were any better, I would be twins!" Many of the waiters at his restaurant quit their jobs when he changed jobs, so they could follow him around from restaurant to restaurant. Why? Because Jerry was a natural motivator. If an employee was having a bad day, Jerry was always there, telling him how to look on the positive side of the situation.
Seeing this style really made me curious, so one day I went up to Jerry and asked him: "I don't get it! No one can be a positive person all of the time. How do you do it?" Jerry replied, "Each morning I wake up and say to myself, I have two choices today. I can choose to be in a good mood or I can choose to be in a bad mood. I always choose to be in a good mood. Each time something bad happens, I can choose to be victim or I can choose to learn from it. I always choose to learn from it. Every time someone comes to me complaining, I can choose to accept their complaining or I can point out the positive side of life. I always choose the positive side of life."
"But it's not always that easy,” I protested. "Yes it is," Jerry said. "Life is all about choices. When you cut away all the junk every situation is a choice. You choose how you react to situations. You choose how people will affect your mood. You choose to be in a good mood or bad mood. It's your choice how you live your life."
Several years later I heard that Jerry accidentally did something you are never supposed to do in the restaurant business. He left the back door of his restaurant open. And then in the morning, he was robbed by three armed men. While Jerry trying to open the safe box, his hand, shaking from nervousness, slipped off the combination. The robbers panicked and shot him. Luckily, Jerry was found quickly and rushed to the hospital. After 18 hours of surgery and weeks of intensive care, Jerry was released from the hospital with fragments of the bullets still in his body.…
I saw Jerry about six months after the accident. When I asked him how he was, he replied, "If I were any better, I'd be twins. Want to see my scars?" I declined to see his wounds, but did ask him what had gone through his mind as the robbery took place. "The first thing that went through my mind was that I should have locked the back door," Jerry replied. "Then, after they shot me, as I lay on the floor, I remembered that I had two choices: I could choose to live or could choose to die. I chose to live."
"Weren't you scared” I asked? Jerry continued, "The paramedics were great. They kept telling me I was going to be fine. But when they wheeled me into the Emergency Room and I saw the expression on the faces of the doctors and nurses, I got really scared. In their eyes, I read 'He's a dead man. I knew I needed to take action."
"What did you do?" I asked. "Well, there was a big nurse shouting questions at me," said Jerry. "She asked if I was allergic to anything." 'Yes,' to bullets, I replied. Over their laughter, I told them: “I am choosing to live. Please operate on me as if I am alive, not dead.”
Jerry lived – thanks to the skill of his doctors, but also because of his amazing attitude!
I learned from him that every day you have the choice to either enjoy your life or to hate it. The only thing that is truly yours - that no one can control or take from you – is your attitude, so if you can take care of that, everything else in life becomes much easier.

Ingenuity
A city boy, Kenny, moved to the country and bought a donkey from an old farmer for $100.00. The farmer agreed to deliver the donkey the next day.
The next day the farmer drove up and said, "Sorry son, but I have some bad news, the donkey died last night."
Kenny replied: "Well then, just give me my money back."
The farmer said: "Can't do that. I went and spent it already."
Kenny said: "OK then, just unload the donkey."
The farmer asked: "What ya gonna do with him?"
Kenny: "I'm going to raffle him off." (Note: To raffle is to sell a thing
by lottery - draw lot - to a group of people each paying the same amount
for a ticket)
Farmer: "You can't raffle off a dead donkey!"
Kenny: "Sure I can. Watch me. I just won't tell anybody he's dead."
A month later the farmer met up with Kenny and asked, "What happened with that dead donkey?"
Kenny: "I raffled him off. I sold 500 tickets at two dollars a piece and made a profit of $898.00."
Farmer: "Didn't anyone complain?"
Kenny: "Just the guy who won. So I gave him back his two dollars."
Kenny grew up and eventually became the chairman of ENRON.
It is impossible to make anything foolproof because fools are so ingenious. n Murphy's Law

And Do You Know What Else Is Wrong...!
There's nothing more unproductive than someone who's constantly criticising and complaining.
Stop as soon as you catch yourself, and start talking about the positive actions that can be taken to improve the current situation.
Complaining is easy. But if you want to make a difference, turn a bad situation into a better one by speaking positively about what can be done.
Today's Challenge: Speak Enthusiastically - Motivate and Inspire.
| | | 1. Be MOTIVATIONAL! What have you been critical about recently? How did you speak about this issue to others? |
| | | 2. Be INSPIRATIONAL! Who's complaining conversations can you turn into positive ones? |
| | | 3. Be SUPPORTIVE! When you speak with others, are you as encouraging as you could be? |
Your speech is a direct link to your emotions. Change one and you'll change the other. Your internal "self-talk" directly affects your expectations, and your expectations govern the way you act. You cannot speak in a negative manner and productively focus on what needs to get done at the same time. If you want to think and feel more powerfully, then learn to speak in a way that reflects positive and powerful feelings.
"Our attitudes control our lives. Attitudes are a secret power working twenty-four hours a day, for good or bad.
It is of paramount importance that we know how to harness and control this great force."

Optimism
As a man walked down the street, he passed some elephants, and suddenly stopped. He was confused by the fact that those huge creatures were being held by only a small rope tied to their front leg. No chains, no cages. It was obvious that the elephants could, at anytime, break away from their bonds but for some reason, they did not. He saw a trainer near by and asked why those beautiful, magnificent animals just stood there and made no attempt to get away.
"Well," he said, "when they are very young and much smaller we use the same size rope to tie them and, at that age, it was enough to hold them. As they grew up, they were conditioned to believe they could not break away. They believe the rope can still hold them, so they never try to break free."
The man was amazed. These animals could at any time break free from their bonds but because they believed they couldn't, they were stuck right where they were! Like the elephants, how many of us go through life hanging onto a belief that we cannot do something, simply because we failed at it once before?

"Never let yesterday's disappointments overshadow tomorrow's dreams. Break free, you can."

The Drive For Excellence...
Excellence: A Drive from the Inside, Not Outside
A man once visited a temple under construction where he saw a sculptor making an idol of God. Suddenly he noticed a similar idol lying nearby. Surprised, he asked the sculptor, "Do you need two statues of the same idol?" "No," said the sculptor without looking up, "We need only one, but the first one got damaged at the last stage." The gentleman examined the idol and found no apparent damage. "Where is the damage?" he asked. "There is a scratch on the nose of the idol." said the sculptor, still busy with his work. "Where are you going to install the idol?" The sculptor replied that it would be installed on a pillar twenty feet high. "If the idol is that far, who is going to know that there is a scratch on the nose?" the gentleman asked.
The sculptor stopped his work, looked up at the gentleman, smiled and said, "I will know it."
The desire to excel is exclusive of the fact whether someone else appreciates it or not.
"Excellence" is a drive from inside, not outside.
Excellence is not for someone else to notice but for your own satisfaction...

Give 100%
A Small Story…
A boy and a girl were playing together. The boy had a collection of marbles. The girl had some sweets with her. The boy told the girl that he will give her all his marbles in exchange for her sweets. The girl agreed.
The boy kept the biggest and the most beautiful marble aside and gave the rest to the girl. The girl gave him all her sweets as she had promised.
That night, the girl slept peacefully. But the boy couldn't sleep as he kept wondering if the girl had hidden some sweets from him the way he had hidden his best marble.
Moral of the story: If you don't give your hundred percent in a relationship, you'll always keep doubting if the other person has given his/her hundred percent.. This is applicable for any relationship like love, employer-employee relationship etc., Give your hundred percent to everything you do and sleep peacefully

What we want to be It's upto us. - The power of attitude
One of the most wonderful things about having a positive attitude is the number of people it touches, many times in ways you'll never know
Recently, I stopped by a convenience store to get a newspaper and a pack of gum.
The young woman at the check-out counter said, "That'll be five dollars please," and as I reached into my wallet, the thought occurred to me that a newspaper and gum didn't quite make it to five dollars.
When I looked up to get a "re-quote", she had a big smile on her face and said,
"Gotcha! I got to get my tip in there somehow!"
I laughed when I knew I'd been fooled.
She then glanced down at the paper I was buying and said, "I'm sick and tired of all this negative stuff on the front pages. I want to read some good news for a change." She then said, "In fact, I think someone should just publish a Good News newspaper -a paper with wonderful, inspirational stories about people overcoming adversity and doing good things for others. I'd buy one every day!"
She then thanked me for coming in and said, "Maybe we'll get lucky tomorrow; maybe we'll get some good news," and she laughed.
She made my day.
The following day after my business appointments, I dropped by the same store again to pick up bottled water, but a different young lady was behind the counter. As I checked out I said, "Good afternoon" and handed her my money for the water.
She said nothing – not a word, not a smile...nothing. She just handed me my change and in a negative tone, ordered..."Next!"
It hit me right between the eyes: Two people, same age; one made me feel great, and the other, well, made me feel that I had inconvenienced her by showing up.By the choices we make, by the attitudes we exhibit, we are influencing lives every day in positive or negative ways...our family, our peers, our friends, and even strangers we've never met before and will never meet again.
So when you brush your teeth every morning, and get ready for work, ask yourself this important question,
"Who do I want to be today?"
"The Grouch"
Or
"The Good News Girl"
Your answer will go a long way toward determining your success in business and in life.
Other Side
“A Father was reading a magazine and his little daughter every now and then distracted him. To keep her busy, he tore one page on which was printed the map of the world. He tore it into pieces and asked her to go to her room and put them together to make the map again. He was sure she would take the whole day to get it done. But the little one came back within minutes with perfect map.
When he asked how she could do it so quickly, she said, 'Oh… Dad, there is a man's face on the other side of the paper. I made the face perfect to get the map right."" she ran outside to play leaving the father surprised.”
Friends, There is always the other side to whatever you experience in this world. This story indirectly teaches a lesson. That is, whenever we come across a challenge or a puzzling situation, look at the other side...You will be surprised to see an easy way to tackle the problem...
WHAT GOES AROUND COMES AROUND
His name was Fleming, and he was a poor Scottish farmer. One day, while trying to make a living for his family, he heard a cry for help coming from a nearby bog. He dropped his tools and ran to the bog. There, mired to his waist in black muck, was a terrified boy, screaming and struggling to free himself. Farmer Fleming saved the lad from what could have been a slow and terrifying death.
The next day, a fancy carriage pulled up to the Scotsman's sparse surroundings. An elegantly dressed nobleman stepped out and introduced himself as the father of the boy Farmer Fleming had saved. "I want to repay you," said the nobleman. "You saved my son's life." "No, I can't accept payment for what I did," the Scottish farmer replied, waving off the offer.
At that moment, the farmer's own son came to the door of the family hovel. "Is that your son?" the nobleman asked. "Yes," the farmer replied proudly. "I'll make you a deal. Let me provide him with the level of education my own son will enjoy. If the lad is anything like his father, he'll no doubt grow to be a man we both will be proud of." And that he did.
Farmer Fleming's son attended the very best schools and in time, he graduated from St. Mary's Hospital Medical School in London, and went on to become known throughout the world as the noted Sir Alexander Fleming, the discoverer of Penicillin.
Years afterward, the same nobleman's son who was saved from the bog was stricken with pneumonia. What saved his life this time? Penicillin. The name of the nobleman? Lord Randolph Churchill.
His son's name? Sir Winston Churchill.
Someone once said:
"What goes around comes around."
A TALE OF TWO FROGS
A group of frogs were traveling through the woods, and two of them fell into a deep pit. When the other frogs saw how deep the pit was, they told the two frogs that they were as good as dead. The two frogs ignored the comments and tried to jump up out of the pit with all their might. The other frogs kept telling them to stop, that they were as good as dead. Finally, one of the frogs took heed to what the other frogs were saying and gave up. He fell down and died. The other frog continued to jump as hard as he could. Once again, the crowd of frogs yelled at him to stop the pain and just die. He jumped even harder and finally made it out. When he got out, the other frogs said, "Did you not hear us?" The frog explained to them that he was deaf. He thought they were encouraging him the entire time.
This story teaches two lessons:
1. An encouraging word to someone who is down can lift them up and help them make it through the day.
2. A destructive word to someone who is down can be what it takes to finish them.
Be careful of what you say. The power of words... it is sometimes hard to understand that an encouraging word can go such a long way. Anyone can speak words that tend to rob another of the spirit to continue in difficult times. Special is the individual who will take the time to encourage another.

DON"T WASTE YEARS OF YOUR VALUABLE LIFE!!! Enjoy Every Moment
A boat docked in a tiny Goanese village. An NRI tourist complimented the Goanese fisherman on the quality of his fish and asked how long it took him to catch them.
"Not very long," answered the Fisherman.
"But then, why didn't you stay out longer and catch more?" asked the
NRI.
The fisherman explained that his small catch was sufficient to meet his
and his family needs.
"Good....But what do you do with the rest of your time?" NRI asked.
"I sleep late, fish a little, play with my children, and have dinner with wife and children then take a long walk with my wife. In the late evening, I go to the village with my wife to see my friends, their I play guitar, sing a few songs...and dance altogether.....just enjoying the life at fullest."
NRI interrupted : "Hey how can U live like this...? U're wasting your time. U should think about the development....some constructive things.....U have tremendous potentials and oppourtunity to grow and earn millions and crores of rupees.
Fisherman : Oh..! thats great..!!
NRI : I'm an MBA from Oxford, and I can help you to grow and get rich, I'll show U the way to earn millions and crores of rupees.
Fisherman : But, what I'll do with all these millions and crores of rupees?
NRI : Ohhh....U poor guy..! These money will give U more comfort, happiness and peace.
Fisherman : Oh...really..! How..?
NRI : You should start by fishing longer every day. You can then sell the extra fish you catch, which increase your revenue, with that extra revenue, you can buy a bigger boat."
"OK, then?" asked the Fisherman.
"Then, you can buy a second one and third and so on until you have an entire fleet of
trawlers. Instead of selling your fish to a middle man, you can then negotiate directly with the processing plants and you can open your own plant and even U can start exporting the fish so you can earn money in dollar too....for that U have to leave this little village and move to big city like Mumbai, Banglore or Delhi ! So U can operate & expand your business very well."
"That's really woderful but how long would it take?" asked the Fisherman.
"Fifteen or twenty years," replied the NRI.
"And after that?"
"Afterwards? Well my Friend, it gets really interesting."
When U have millions and crores of rupees in your hand then U dont need to worry about any....anything in your life.....just get retire and start enjoy every moment of your life, buy a farm house at small village, sing-dance, catch a fish, play with your children, take your wife for candle light dinner and celebrate every evening with your friends......just enjoy the life and do anything U want..!
"Thats what I'm doing right now, I'm enjoying every moment of my life, Sir..!
Why should I wait for 15-20 years...??? asked Fisherman.
Friends, enjoy every moment of your life....'cause U want get second chance, although money is very very important thing in life but U can not buy a single second with crores of rupees which is gone away......just think what U R doing and where U're going in life.....U may be already there...right now...!!
Last Words :
"Being happy doesn't mean everything's perfect.
It means you've decided to see beyond the imperfections"
